Pacific Grove

Quiet yourself, pause, take time to see all He created and marvel at His work.

Finally, a week, a full week vacation! It has been eighteen years since our last vacation with no children, pets, or responsibilities. Eighteen years.

The last time we had a "vacation" was on our honeymoon.

That is a long time.

It took me three days to finally relax and really enjoy my time alone with my Husband. My mind kept desiring routine and responsibilities. It kept thinking of "Hey, it is time to feed the dogs." Or "It is time to let the dogs out." Or "It is time to take your Youngest Son to work." After three days my mind let go and was finally in the moment.

We sat for hours, on many occasions of the days we were in Pacific Grove, just watching the waves roll in since is was high tidal waves.

When we went to the Monterey Aquarium it took two full days, from open to close, to get through it all. The reason was because my Husband and I would pause and take the time to marvel at God's creations. Learning and watching the animals in their habitats in awe. Some of them looked like they came from another planet! We especially took the longest at the cuttlefish exhibit. We were mesmerized by them. The way they changed the color and texture of their skin. Their skin changed in a wave of motion. We were there so long that we even got the opportunity to watch them being fed. They eat much like that of a frog.

Psalms 8 GNT:

O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!

Your praise reaches up to the heavens; it is sung by children and babies.

You are safe and secure from all your enemies; you stop anyone who opposes you.

When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places- what are human beings, that you think of them; mere mortals, that you care for them?

Yet you made them inferior only to yourself; you crowned them with glory and honor.

You appointed them rulers over everything you made; you placed them over all creation: sheep and cattle, and the wild animals too; the birds and the fish and the creatures in the seas.

O Lord, our Lord, your greatness is seen in all the world!

We had such a great time that when it came time to depart and return home we really did not want to leave the peace and experience that would be lost in the hustle and bustle of our normal life.

Overall, it was a great week's vacation to reconnect with each other, breathe, and to learn to be in the present moment or you will miss it all. Relearn to have childlike faith and point of view. That is what we felt like while we were in Pacific Grove and getting to see all we saw marveling at His wonderful works.

Quiet yourself, pause, take time to see all He created and marvel at His work.
